Categoria socioambiental ABC: histórico e avanços recentes no BNDES

Abstract

Since the launch of its first environmental policy, in 1999, the BNDES has been adopting and improving procedures for identifying, classifying and dealing with socio-environmental risks associated with loan operations. In this context, this article provides a brief report about the development of the method currently used to classify socio-environmental risks of operations (E&S category), presenting results obtained in the evaluation of 103 operations. At the same time, a description of the methodology and its application context will be made, explaining the different criterias adopted and the information sources used. In summary, the article presents a brief assessment of the general results, historical developments and future perspectives on the topic.
