Fontes de financiamento para aeronaves comerciais – parte I: bancos, export credit agencies, lessors e seguradoras

Abstract

The commercial aircraft financing market is global, with annual values above US$ 100 billion. Various financing structures, with private and public agencies – such as BNDES – coexist with distinct objectives. In many situations, a partnership between these two types of financial institutions to facilitate the acquisition of aircraft is possible. In others, such as in times of economic crisis, public financial institutions fill the gap resulted from the aversion to risk on the part of many private financing agents. This article is the first part of a study of global commercial aircraft funding sources. In it, three sources of great importance are analyzed – banks, export credit agencies (ECA) and lessors – and the inclusion of insurance companies is also discussed. In the second part, to be published, the fifth great source will be addressed: the capital market.
