Ten years since the Public Private Partnership Law was enacted, there has been limited progress in this type of procurement in Brazil’s public entities. Considering the country’s economic situation, which still relies on a rising level of investment in infrastructure, and the restrictive budgetary and fiscal conditions of public entities, contracting projects within the scope of public private partnerships, and with higher participation of and responsibility for the private sector, could make it possible to significantly increase the number of projects that have a positive impact on the population’s well-being. In this article, we highlight the importance of attracting institutional investors to this type of asset and point out the current conditions that restrict such investors from more actively participating in the infrastructure sector. |
