Abstract

Discutir a indústria de cloro-soda, fornecedora de insumos intermediários para a indústria química e para vários outros setores industriais, tem sido atribuição restrita a especialistas. O presente trabalho, considerando a sua importância econômica e as grandes polêmicas ambientais envolvidas, pretende contribuir para maior difusão do conhecimento sobre a indústria e facilitar o encaminhamento das principais questões que precisam ser enfrentadas. Destacamos a necessidade de investimentos no controle ambiental, na melhoria da infra-estrutura, no aumento da eficiência operacional das plantas e na reestruturação do modelo empresarial do complexo.

The discussion of the chlorine-soda industry, supplier of intermediates to the chemical industry and to other industrial sectors, has been an attribution restricted only to specialists. Considering the economic importance and great environment concerns involved, this present study, expects to contribute for a larger understanding of this industry and to make it easier for the guidance of the main disputes that should be faced. We give emphasis of the necessity of investments in environment controls, improvements in the infrastructure plants efficiency upgrade and the restructure of the current entrepreneurial model.
