Abstract: Education is the engine of the development of nations. In this light, this article discusses the education and its importance for economic development, considers the perspectives of distance education to boost teacher training in higher education in the country and presents the social impact bonds as funding opportunities for teacher training in Brazil. This is a bibliographical, documentary and exploratory research and it is presented as a contribution to raise the knowledge about distance education, social impact bonds and their possible synergies.
